About Liane Olin Coaching
I was a healthy Human Resources Professional, hiker, runner, yogi, wife, and mother when I was shot in 2017. I suffered a skull fracture, brain bleed, and unresolved chronic pain. The head of neurology said I would never work again. I was a mess, and I couldn’t find anyone to help me get my life back.
When I was trying to heal, I unknowingly repressed trauma and emotions, and it was showing up as uncontrollable pain. My brain had learned to create pain to protect me. At the same time, my emotions were pulling me outside to connect with nature.
The story could have ended there if I had given up and believed what the doctors told me. But I refused to give in to that nonsense. Something inside me knew there was a way to recover. My heart was clear even though my mind was confused. I was determined to find a way to heal, and I refused to accept the label of permanent disability. If I accepted what the doctors said, I would be on narcotics and miserable the rest of my life.
Everything changed when I found a pain psychologist who explained how my brain was creating pain paths, and she taught me techniques to get rid of it. I also incorporated nature into my healing along with other mind-body tools and techniques until one day, it was gone!
I often get asked how I started my business, so I’ll share my story as an introduction.
Liane Olin Coaching, LLC emerged after I recovered from a gunshot in 2017. Instead of filing for permanent disability, I chose to aggressively treat my chronic pain, refusing to succumb to the numbness provided by painkillers and waiting for a miracle cure.
With guidance from Clinical Pain Psychologist, Dr. Jennifer Huggins, we engaged in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), meditation and other forms of mindfulness. She also introduced me to Dr. Sarno and his work in the field of Tension Myositis Syndrome (TMS) that treats several forms of pain conditions.
As I recovered, people approached me to find out how I was healing so quickly. Each person had a different story wanting help with things like trauma, pain, relationships, and depression. As we hiked together, I shared my story of healing along with tools and techniques. Individual hikes blossomed into weekly motivational hiking groups, private clients, video and phone sessions.
Clients leave feeling better, lighter, more relaxed and at ease with their situation. Most importantly, they leave empowered with tools to use on their own.
